Delhi Public School Indirapuram celebrated Christmas in a special assembly on  21st December 2018. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Rev. Vikram Masih, Pastor Bethel Methodist Church Noida. The occasion was presided over by Mrs. Santosh Bansal, Pro-Vice Chairperson DPS Indirapuram. Other esteemed guests present on the occasion  were , Mr. Andrew Hoffland, a well-known theatre personality, Ms. Pallavi Upadhyay, Principal DPS R.N.Extension, Mr.J.V.Silas, Ms. Poonam Silas and PTA Members,  Ms. Rekha Bansal, Mr. Anil Kumar Singh and Mr. Amit Gupta.

 

The programme commenced with the lighting of the candles by the honoured guests. The school Principal, Mrs. Meeta Rai welcomed all and said that the school has always endeavoured to imbibe the spirit of secularism in the children by celebrating every festival with equal gusto and fervour. She emphasized that this year's Christmas celebrations were special as it marked the amalgamation of different Indian languages, giving the message that the joy associated with the birth of Jesus and his message of love and peace transcends all barriers of language, caste or creed. She further urged the children to celebrate Christmas in its true essence by kindling the flame of charity in their hearts. 

 

The celebrations began with the tiny tots of the Pre-Primary Wing ushering the Christmas spirit with a foot tapping Christmas dance. Dressed resplendently in Christmas colours of red and golden these darlings set the stage on fire with their cute dance movements. The school English choir recreated a perfect Christmas ambience with melodious carols aptly capturing the sanctity of that wintry night when the Prince of Peace was born thousands of years ago. The carols were followed by a heart touching movie on the 'Joy of Giving’ that brought forth the message of goodwill, benevolence and sacrifice. The students of the Theatre club of the school presented the Nativity play.....'Christmas Confluence', thereafter, which transported the audience back in time when Jesus was born .The story beautifully woven with carols in different Indian languages like, Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Punjabi and Bhojpuri, depicting the birth of Jesus, the Visitation by the Angels giving the Good news to the shepherds and the Wise men following the star left the audience in awe, giving them a transcendental experience. An exuberant Christmas dance on 'Feliz Navidad', celebrating the joys of the season, marked the culmination of the grand Christmas Pageant. As the auditorium reverberated with rejoicing, Santa Claus dancing on 'Jingle Bells' carrying his bag of goodies further added to the ambience of merry making and gaiety. 

 

The chief guest for the occasion, Rev. Vikram Masih expressed his happiness on being a part of the celebrations. Emphasizing on love, peace, joy and hope as the four most important factors required in today's world, he urged the students to make them the guiding force of their lives. He also blessed the school and appealed to all to learn the lesson of humility from Christ's coming.

 

The celebrations ended with a vote of thanks by the school Headmistress, Mrs. Priya John. The celebrations not only heralded the Christmas spirit but also marked the unique confluence of different Indian languages and was a novel way of carrying forward the program Bhasha Sangam under the initiative 'Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat ' as undertaken by the ministry of HRD to celebrate the spirit of National integration.
