Guidelines for Parents
DPS Indirapuram endeavours to provide an overall holistic experience to all the students under its care which not only aims to unleash their intellectual and creative potential but also ensures their mental and emotional well being.
Keeping this in view, the school organises Orientation Programs or shares a video for every class in the beginning of the session to acquaint the parents with the systems, academic pattern, assessment structure and teachers of the new class. They also focus on how to help the children cope with stress, increase focus, foster resilience and become more mindful and self aware. Helping our children evolve as well balanced and responsible individuals is our prime responsibility as parents and educators.
Hence, it is imperative for the parents to go through the Orientation Program of their ward’s class to familiarise themselves with the latest curriculum.
The school also organises regular Open House for every class, so the parents can monitor the progress of their wards and interact with every teacher teaching their ward during these Parent Teacher Meetings. It is thus, mandatory for atleast one parent to make themselves available to attend the PTM of their ward for a thorough interaction with the teachers and timely review of their ward’s academic performance.
The school follows a well planned Academic Calendar with well defined academic modules, ample revision time and a clearly laid down Assessment structure. Hence, it does not encourage conducting unnecessary online classes which might not prove to be significantly beneficial due to signal issues, distractions, lack of concentration, absence of peer interaction and physical monitoring.
- In case of any concern/feedback, parents must share it with the class teacher through ERP In case, the issue is not resolved, parents can write an email expressing their concerns at info@dpsindirapuram.com.
- All emails are replied within 2-3 working.
- Parents are expected to maintain a respectful and decent tone in all forms of communication with school teachers and staff, whether in person or through written correspondence, including emails. Any use of inappropriate or offensive language, or the formation of groups to raise grievances, will be viewed seriously and may result in strict disciplinary action against the parent. Such action may also include the withdrawal of school facilities.
- Issues not resolved on emails will be scheduled with an appointment to discuss further.
- The School can use photographs/videos of students for purposes related to the school, including advertisements, social media posts, website content and printed material etc.
- Keeping in view, the excessive exposure to social media in today's times, parents are requested to regularly monitor their wards activities on social media and advise them to refrain from too much engagement on these platforms.
ANTI – BULLYING NORMS
Bullying lowers self-esteem, interferes with everyone’s right to be respected, to learn and to be/feel safe. Hence DPSI has zero tolerance to bullying, physical or mental, in cyber space or otherwise, and obscenity or sexual offences by anyone in school.
The term Bullying implies any of the following:
- Physical and verbal attacks, including repetitive teasing, harsh comments and slander.
- Violence and physical aggression leading to hurt or intimidation especially against junior students, by forcibly taking their belongings, food etc.
- All direct or indirect remarks of obscene or sexual nature against the other gender.
- All acts of discrimination leading to lowered self-esteem.
- The destruction of someone’s material possessions.
- Cyber bullying and online humilation by posting or subscribing to posts offensive to another.
- Inappropriate phone calls, emails, messages, use of photographs and other media sources involving the victim.
- Public Display of Affection (PDA), sharing objectionable material, carrying obscene material to school, including digital material on phone devices, even if not shown to others, is a serious violation of school norms. It will be dealt with strictly and might lead to rustication from school.
- Carrying phones or digital devices to school to be used for the purpose of defaming is a serious offence and in contravention of explicit school norms. It will invite disciplinary action. If in case of emergency, a student carries a mobile phone to school, it must be handed over to the class teacher. If not, the mobile phone will be confiscated.
Most importantly, since bullying includes all actions leading to humilation, lowered self-esteem, fear, physical or mental torture and peril to the individual, hence every incident has to be brought to the notice of the school authorities. Incidents of bullying will thus involve strict action and may attract rustication.
Counselling in such matters is an essential part of the School system, and it is the responsibility of the parents to counsel their children and give consent that the child may be counselled in the School, whenever that is required.
It is a collective responsibility of the students, teachers and parents to maintain a bullying free environment and promote an atmosphere that respects diversity and originality by encouraging positive speech and action and working together to resolve any bullying incident that might occur.
Kindly note that the school will not be responsible for any kind of bullying incidents, personal fights or feuds between students outside the school premises or any such activities on social media.
ANGER-FREE SCHOOL
"Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding."
All of us will agree that a joyful learning environment and happy school can do wonders for the holistic development of our children. A learning abode like a school must be devoid of any kind of negativity so that we can contribute and make the world a better place for our children, by infusing positivity in everything around them. Anger is detrimental to fitness. Therefore, as per the guidelines of the Central Board of Secondary Education, DPSI urges all its stake holders to make efforts to convert the school into an Anger - Free Zone.
In this Anger –Free Zone, everyone will have to manage his/her anger, whether it is the Parents, School personnel or other stakeholders. The best way to teach children the value of ‘freedom from anger’, is by setting examples ourselves.
Making the school Anger-Free will help our students in developing Affective Skills and in eradicating emotions like Fear, Disrespect, Humiliation and Hurt, which are the byproducts of anger. This change in the school environment will help our children become emotionally strong and healthy. They shall go back home more charged and happy and definitely will want to return to their school the next day.
We are sure that all our stakeholders will make this little effort to make the school become an Anger-Free Zone and make our children happy, joyous and active learners, ready to face the future with a smile on their lips and a spring in their steps!
Late Arrival in School
"Punctuality is not about being on time, it is about respecting your own commitments."
- Students should report at least 5 minutes prior to the School hours. Late coming will not be accepted.
- The school gate will close 10 minutes after the school timings mentioned in the school timing mentioned in the almanac.
- Late arrival at school is a breach of discipline. A student who comes late to school, must enter the date and time of arrival in the ‘Record of Late Coming to School’ register kept at the entrance gate before entering the school premises.
- Five late arrivals in an academic session will result in a 'Parents' Call'. Ten late arrivals will invoke a yellow card or any other suitable action from the school.
School Leaving or Withdrawals
- Absenteeism of the child will not be considered as his/her withdrawal. At least one month notice in writing is mandatory for withdrawal formalities.
- After the beginning of academic session, if the parent wishes to withdraw, one clear calendar month’s notice has to be given in writing and the parent has to pay the full Quarter Fee (in the quarter, the child is withdrawn) along with the Transport charges, if opted for the same.
- The entire process of issuing the Transfer Certificate takes 25 working days after the announcement of the results (end of session) and 10 working days during the session. Also, the issuing of Transfer Certificate depends on clearance from the Accounts, Library and Academic Departments. Anything pending in Accounts and Library may further delay this process.
- Students can be asked to leave the school in case of any act of indiscipline or highly unsatisfactory progress in academics.
- A student who fails twice in the same class will not be permitted to continue his/her studies in the school.
- All dues of the school should be paid fully and library books returned before applying for a Transfer Certificate. Transfer Certificates will not be issued until all dues of the school are settled.
- Caution money (if applicable) not claimed beyond 6 months from the date of notice of withdrawal, shall be forfeited.
- The Principal's decision will be the final in all cases of withdrawal or striking off the name of a student.
School Uniform
Wearing a uniform is a matter of pride; it creates an identity and is an important part of being a school student. Hence, all the students must wear the following school uniform while in school, during examinations, PTMs and organized tours.
