SPORTS FOR LIFE

On the beautiful morning of Saturday, 3^rd December 2016, the Primary Wing of DPS Indirapuram presented the annual sports bonanza ‘Sports for Life – Sports Day 2016’ for classes I and II amidst great fanfare and soaring spirits.

The Chief Guest for the day, Mr. Vijay Dahiya, former Indian Cricketer and current coach of Delhi Cricket Team, graced the occasion with his august presence.  The distinguished presence of Mrs. Santosh Bansal, Pro-Vice Chairperson DPS Indirapuram added to the charm of the day.

The school Principal Mrs. Meeta Rai accorded a warm welcome to the galaxy of eminent guests and all the wonderful parents who had gathered in full spirit to witness the fitness fiesta. In her welcome address, the Principal Mrs. Meeta Rai dwelt on the marvels of childhood, affirming her firm conviction that children have unique talents which are special gifts to be nurtured with love and care.  She reiterated the school’s commitment to high educational standards as well as its unrelenting endeavor to provide for the holistic development of children.  She advised students to dream, for dreams alone can ignite a passion to achieve and excel in their chosen fields.

The mega sports event was declared open with an auspicious take off, comprising a bunch of colourful balloons with a pledge given to the pupils to uphold the values of excellence, respect and amity.  The day began on a musical note with the school choir regaling the audience with a melodious song ‘Khel Khiladi Khel’, followed by a Yoga presentation which endorsed its unique therapeutic and rejuvenating powers. It was a day of accomplishment and success for the children as they participated in various racing events like the Hurdle Race, Tennis Race, Stack Race and Relay Race adding to the gaiety of the event. There was also a spectacular demonstration of Taekwondo, the traditional Korean martial art form that brought to the fore the confidence, focus and fitness of the young dipsites. The Aerobics presentation combined a happy blend of rhythm and acrobatics. Gymnastics by the energetic children displayed co-ordination, balance, flexibility, agility, power and grace. The folk dance of Punjab was a sheer expression of happiness and merriment while Salaam India….a fusion dance witnessed the little danseuses perform with verve and vitality. The drill displays, performed with dumb bells, lezims and pom poms were a great visual delight. The melange of scintillating performances was greatly appreciated by one and all and earned a thunderous applause from the audience.

The winners of the various events were felicitated at the Prize Distribution Ceremony.  The Chief Guest, Mr. Vijay Dahiya expressed his joy at being a part of the grand event and commended the efforts of DPS Indirapuram in providing a platform to students for showcasing their talent.

The Head Mistress, Mrs. Seema Kaur proposed the vote of thanks and expressed her happiness at the success of the event.
