Protecting the Planet- Lend a Hand to Save the Land

A Tree Plantation Drive by Delhi Public School, Indirapuram “You can’t have the fruits without the roots”

To create awareness among the younger generation and to prevent damage from deforestation, a Tree Plantation Drive was conducted on 9 September 2019 by the students of grades 6 to 8. Children planted saplings in and around the school campus.

As an impact of this activity, children have started watering and nurturing plants at home and have pledged to plant saplings on their birthdays. We expect this activity will go a long way in restoring the lost tree cover and cleaning the environment/reducing air pollution.

An activity of making miniature ecosystems, ‘The Green Terrarium’ by Delhi Public School, Indirapuram.

To create awareness among the younger generation about the importance of greenery in our surroundings and their contribution to protecting our beautiful planet, an activity of making ‘The Green Terrarium’ was conducted on 24 October 2019 by the students of grade 6.

Students made the lively terrariums in the Science Lab. 

As an impact of this activity, students promised that they will motivate and encourage people to make and gift such life protecting systems to their friends and relatives on special occasions. Overall, it was an enriching experience for them.

Bar Graph

“Perhaps the truth is that heavy literature blooms in extremes of temperature”

A comparative study with respect to the maximum temperature of Delhi through bar graphs by the students of class 8th.

 To create awareness among the younger generation, a subject enrichment activity was conducted on 6 September 2019 by the students of grade 8. Children collected data for the temperature of 15 consecutive days in a month. 

As an impact of this activity, children understood the adverse effect of the rising temperature of Earth. It was an overall learning and enriching experience for the children.

BEAT THE PLASTIC POLLUTION WEEK

If you are ‘FANTASTIC’, then do something ‘DRASTIC’ to cut the ‘PLASTIC’.

The ISA activity on Plastic Pollution was organized from 11 November 2019 to 15 November 2019 to encourage the children to stop the use of plastic items. Several activities on the theme ‘reuse plastic waste’ were conducted like group discussions, creating decorative material items, and video presentations on Plastic Pollution.

Vermicompost Activity by students of class 8th

All across the world, people are facing a wealth of new and challenging environmental problems every day and one of these is air pollution, which is also the theme for World Environment Day 2019.

Burning of garden or agricultural waste is one of the causes of air pollution.

To sensitize students about the problem of toxic air pollutants released due to the burning of garden waste, a vermicomposting activity was conducted on 4 October 2019 in the school premises by the students of class 8th. Students were made aware of the use of 5 R’s (Reduce, Refuse, Recycle, Repurpose, Reuse) to deal with biodegradable waste through a hands-on experience activity in an eco-friendly manner.
