12 Jul 2018 School Admin

Delhi Public School Indirapuram celebrated Eid in a Special Assembly on 12th July, 2018. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Syed Sibtey Razi, the honorable ex-governor of Assam and Jharkhand. The function was presided over by Mrs. Santosh Bansal, Pro-Vice Chairperson DPS Indirapuram. Parents of the Muslim students of the school also participated in the celebrations.

The school Principal, Mrs. Meeta Rai welcomed the guests and expressed her happiness to see the whole hearted participation of the parents on the beautiful occasion of Eid. Emphasizing on how the school constantly strives to imbibe the spirit of secularism in its students, she said that all festivals in school are celebrated with the same fervor, gusto and enthusiasm. She also urged the students to celebrate Eid in its true essence, by spreading the message of universal brotherhood, forgiving others and forgetting all grudges.

The programme commenced with the Tilawat e Quran, recital of the sacred verses from the Holy Book by Mr. Mohd. Shahid, from the Urdu Department of the school. This was followed by a Qawaali of Sufi songs by the school choir. The melodious rendition of Sufi songs created an ethereal ambience, setting the stage for the short play showcasing the true spirit of Eid and the significance of fasting during the month of Ramadan. The students of the school beautifully brought forth the message of sacrifice, charity and benevolence, urging all to purify their body, hearts and souls, through their powerful portrayal and enactment. The celebrations were complete with a Sufi dance by the Junior school Dance troupe on the soul-stirring song, ‘Kun Faya Kun’, giving the audience a transcendental experience.

The Chief Guest for the occasion, Mr. Syed Sibtey Razi, thanked the school Principal for giving him the opportunity to be a part of the celebrations. Lauding the children for conveying the message of Eid with such simplicity and clarity, he expressed his delight at getting acquainted with the future generation of the country who were the torch bearers of a new tomorrow.

Hailing India as a cradle of diverse religions and cultures, he urged the children to appreciate the message and philosophy behind each and place humanity and respect for the quintessential human values above all.

The celebrations ended with a grand feast of Eid delicacies like ‘Sewaiyaan’ and exchange of greetings and compliments in the traditional style.
