Delhi Public School Indirapuram in association with T-series StageWorks Academy conducted a workshop for the students of classes VI to XII from 16th May, 2018 to 29th May, 2018. The objective of the workshop was to provide the students an opportunity to hone and showcase their creative talent in the field of dancing, singing and acting. 64 students of the school enrolled for the workshop, during the course of which the students were trained by eminent personalities from the music and theatre world to teach various techniques of dialogue delivery, voice modulation and stage performance.

The workshop culminated on 29th May, 2018 in a grand ceremony studded with a galaxy of luminaries and parents who witnessed the children perform. The occasion was presided over by Mrs. Santosh Bansal, Pro-Vice Chairperson DPS Indirapuram. The guest of Honour for the day were Mr. Hitesh Ralhan, Director T-series Stageworks Academy and Mr. Vijay Sachdeva, Director T-series. Other eminent guests present on the occasion were Mrs. Nidhi Bansal, Pro-vice Chairperson Pacific World School, Mr. Samir Mukherjee, Corporate Head, HR T-series, Mr. Sanjay Vidhyarthi, famous music director, composer and singer and Mr. Sayeed Alam a renowned theatre personality.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the esteemed guests. The school Principal Mrs. Meeta Rai welcomed all into this realm of talent and creativity. Taking pride in the immense potential of the children, she encouraged them to pursue their passion and expressed her belief that such workshops not only helped discover and polish the inherent skills in children but also instilled confidence enabling them to overcome their stage fear and inhibitions.

The children under the guidance of their mentor, Mr. Kshitij Mathur, a promising Indian classical vocalist, a Sangeet Visharad and recipient of the pretigious Sahitya Kala Parishad Scholar ship mesmerized the gathering with a ‘Classy Cool’ Presentation – a medley of popular songs from different genres. This mellifluous presentation left the audience in awe, spell bound with sheer melody and magic. This was followed by a gala performance by Jatin Sharma, an alumni of DPS Indirapuram, who has to his credit many stage shows and music albums of devotional songs and is a performing artist  trained at T-series Stageworks Academy.

Thereafter, the children presented a short play ‘Mohan se Mahatma Tak’. Scripted by Dr. Sayeed Alam, the play depicted the Champaran Episode in Gandhiji’s life and portrayed his transformation from a barrister to a great Nationalist leader. The performance left a profound impact on the audience who were highly impressed with the intense acting skills and stage confidence of the students.

A PowerPoint presentation highlighting the initiatives undertaken by T-series Stageworks Academy to nurture the talent of the budding artists was also screened during the programme. Speaking highly about the talent in children of the school, Mr. Arun Kumar. Vice President T-series Stage Works Academy, expressed his gratitude to the school principal, Mrs. Meeta Rai, for giving them an opportunity to conduct this talent enhancement programme.

The highlight of the day was an electrifying classical rendition by Mr. Sanjay Vidyarthi who captivated all with his powerful voice, engaging in skillful jungalbandis with the tabla maestro and other accompanying musicians. The programme ended with ‘Footloose’- a footapping fusion dance performance by the students. The energetic presentation which was a perfect blend of hiphop, jazz and pop left the audience in raptures.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Debasree Kumar, Event Coordinator for the workshop. The workshop was an enriching and relaxing experience for the students, which not only helped strengthen their creative skills, but also taught them some valuable lessons on stage performance at professional levels.
