Effervescence and gaiety marked the Annual Day Celebration at DPS Indirapuram on Tuesday, 19^th December 2017 as almost 500 young students of class IV showcased their prodigious talent in a visually stunning and superbly acted drama, CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI.

Mr. Uday Umesh Lalit, Honourable Judge of the Supreme Court graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while Mr. Abhishek Bansal, Member Managing Committee, DPS Indirapuram presided over the function. The presence of Mrs. Amita Umesh Lalit, Principal and Founder of Stimulus Preschool lent a special charm to the occasion.

The extravaganza commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the eminent guests.  In her address, Principal, Mrs. Meeta Rai said that staging a show of such stature is a great learning experience for all and the best outcome of such an exposure is that children learn teamwork, hone their talent and gain self-confidence. She proudly shared the achievements of the school and the awards received in the past one year. She further expressed her happiness at the experiential method of schooling adopted by the school that accelerates learning and enhances students’ knowledge and skills.

The period drama, Chhatrapati Shivaji, presented through a medley of colours, sonorous music, beautifully choreographed dances and skillful acting charged the atmosphere with cadence and sublimity.  It took the audience on an incredible historical journey into the life and exploits of Shivaji, India’s most acclaimed warrior king and highlighted the glory of the Maratha Empire during his reign.  The drama portrayed Shivaji as a benevolent king, tolerant towards all his subjects, irrespective of caste, community, religion and creed.  The animated performances and spectacular depiction of the protagonist’s exemplary valour, as he stood fearlessly against his enemies were a treat to watch.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Uday Umesh Lalit praised the wonderful in-house production as a unique blend of drama, melodious music and dazzling dances.  He was delighted at the display of unbridled enthusiasm, sheer determination and undaunted spirit of the students in putting up a splendid show.  He concluded his address by briefly narrating episodes from Shivaji’s life that spoke volume of the warrior king’s valour, bravery and tactics.

The curtains came down after an entertainment packed day with the Vote of Thanks proposed by the Headmistress, Mrs. Seema Kaur.  She congratulated the students for their scintillating performance and expressed great pride in the spirit of teamwork and collaboration shown by DPS Indirapuram.
