Delhi Public School Indirapuram organized a Scholar Badge Ceremony to felicitate the academically meritorious students of Class VIII on 29th January, 2019. The students were awarded symbols of excellence for excelling in their studies in class VII in the session 2016-17. The Chief Guest for the occasion was General Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM and ADC, Minster of State for External Affairs and Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha. Mrs. Santosh Bansal, Pro-Vice Chairperson DPS Indirapuram presided over the function. Other eminent guests present on the occasion were Mr. M.L.Sethi, Additional Private Secretary to the Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, Sansad Pratinidhi, Mr. Sanjay Singh, Parshad Ghaziabad, Mr. Pappu Pahalwan, Parshad BJP,        Mr. & Mrs. Anil Singh, PTA Members and Mr. Shivam Gehlot and Mr. Vikas Dagar.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the honoured guests. The school Principal, Mrs. Meeta Rai thanked the illustrious guests for sparing their valuable time to grace this occasion. Expressing her happiness on seeing the large number of scholars, she fervently hoped that there would be students with more blue blazers than green ones in the near future. Thanking the parents for entrusting their children in the school’s care, she exuberantly shared the landmark achievements of some of the students of the school who had excelled in the sphere of academics, sports and other co-curricular activities. Concluding her address with a motivational poem ‘If You Think’, she further urged the students to strive towards greater success and accomplishment.

The school Hindi Choir spread the patriotic fervor on the occasion of the 70th Republic Day of the country with an inspiring song ‘Jai Jan Bharat’. The students of the Theatre Club of the school, presented a powerful street play highlighting the importance of the Right to franchise and urging all to exercise this right. The Senior and Junior school dance troupes mesmerized the gathering with an electrifying presentation on ‘Vijayee Bhava’ and ‘Asato Maa Sadgamaya’ capturing the spirit of victory and depicting the prevalence of the light of knowledge over the darkness of ignorance.

201 students of class VIII were awarded scholar blazers and 29 students were felicitated with green badges for securing 85% and above marks by the Chief Guest General Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, the school Pro-Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Santosh Bansal and the school Principal, Mrs. Meeta Rai. Special awards were given to four students of class VIII for full attendance during the session 2016-17.

The Chief Guest, General Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh congratulated the young achievers and exhorted them to move forward on the path of progress and excellence. Hailing the students as the future of India, he further added that they would surely play an instrumental role in shaping India’s destiny. Emphasizing on the importance of a strong foundation, he lauded the school’s efforts in honing the personality of the children and giving them opportunities to showcase their talent. He further urged the students to excel in the field chosen by them and be the change makers and heralders of a golden tomorrow.

The programme drew to close with a vote of thanks proposed by the Middle school Academic Coordinator, Ms. Jeena Rachael. The National Anthem was sung thereafter.
